Life in a Care Home
A care home is a welcoming residential setting where older adults live in private rooms with access to 24-hour care and support. Our services include personal care, assistance with medication, meal support, mobility encouragement, and more. Some of our homes are specially registered to provide care for specific needs, such as dementia or end-of-life support.
Many people choose residential care for additional security, social interaction, and ongoing support that may not be possible at home. Contrary to common misconceptions, moving into a care home is not only for those who are unwell-many residents enjoy the independence, companionship, and range of activities that a care home provides.
A Typical Day at Grace House
We tailor support to individual needs, ensuring every resident is cared for throughout the day and night. Examples of the care we provide include:
Morning Support:
- Waking and preparing for the day
- Bathing or showering, personal grooming, and oral care
- Dressing and styling hair, shaving, or applying makeup
- Footcare and skin care
Daytime Support:
- Assistance with mobility around the home and gardens
- Help with toileting and continence care
- Support at mealtimes and encouragement to stay hydrated
- Social interaction, activities, and outings using our home’s mini-bus
- Administration of prescribed medications
Night-time Support:
- Preparing for bed and ensuring comfort during the night
- Repositioning to prevent bed sores and changing continence products as needed
- Continuous monitoring of residents’ wellbeing, including changes in behaviour, eating, or sleeping patterns
Our dedicated staff work closely with residents and their families, providing peace of mind that loved ones are safe, supported, and respected every hour of the day.
